       @Shebeencounter 1/2The pro-Biden Dems were running the show then and still are.   They spun the 2020 campaign as if he would be a 1-term president, but once he was in power, they changed their tune.  Clearly, they didn’t mind how badly he was manipulated by Israel after Oct. 7.        @donray My existing position is that he was such a patsy for Israel, even stocking his cabinet with an "ex"-IDF spook that the inner circle figured keeping him in place represented a viable pathway to preserve Israel's gains in Palestine. And because Democratic leadership is so weak, the media so incurious and because "progressives" are absolute cowards with no ideas, they figured they could walk that puppy all the way to November.And then disaster struck at the debate.

       @Shebeencounter I also feel that the Dem insiders have a great fear that progressive voices will gain traction.  (The insiders represent the Hillary Clinton style losing coalition and big donors.)They didn’t want to risk having primaries.  Another detail that bugs me is that Jill and Hunter convinced Biden to stay in the race — just a week before he bowed out.  It’s like they were all drunk on his power.
