OK I finally made a more comprehensive graph of the actuarial data with two graphs that include ages 0-20 and 20-84, and now have more questions than answers:Can ANYONE explain why 10-11 and 30-40 year olds died at such high rates during "COVID", while 13-15 and 20-23 remained almost entirely unaffected???

That is precisely what I had in mind. How is it that overdoses disproportionately affect specific age groups and skip others? I am truly stumped for an explanation. Later this week I will share this with a statistician friend to see what he thinks...

Mentioned far less than overdoses, but suicides are epidemic too.. it's been 22 Veterans daily for decades & younger children at growing rates though statistics vary.. also worth considering the data collection and group parameters may vary by source and result is badly unbalanced age breaks.. raw data harder to come by but official counting tends to have its share of Enron accounting by accident & design. https://web.archive.org/web/20221104083450/https://www.thelancet.com/journals/eclinm/article/PIIS2589-5370(22)00435-7/fulltext

30-40 deaths are deaths of despair. Overdoses, suicides…lost jobs. Lost businesses.I would be interested to know what % of the 30-40 deaths were small business owners who lost their businesses and / or homes.

Absolutely. I didn't even think about that, but of course. And so not just divorces, but child custody...Ug........And so deaths of despair.I would want to look at the car crash statistics too for the time period as an overlay. Many people kill themselves in their cars consciously and unconsciously. Also, more misery means more impaired driving.

Eureka! Thanks in part to your tip on suicide rates and a conversation I had a year ago with a school counselor who told me young people are most vulnerable during "transitions" I think I found it:What do 10-11 and 18-19 year olds have in common? They are transitioning: The tween cohort is transitioning to middle school and the older teen cohort is transitioning out of high school...and the "COVID" policies made it all the more stressful for these kids. All young people were adversely affected, but 12-15 and 20-23 year olds were not transitioning. If this scenario is correct, it is almost as explosive as the opioid epidemic that killed so many 25-45 year olds. I will get more data and consult a school counselor friend to see if this hypothesis is supported.

Although this 2022 article doesn't break the data down by age groups, it appears that there was a big increase in children and adolescent deaths that began in 2019, just before the covid fiasco began. The three leading causes of death listed were from motor vehicle accidents, firearm (murder and suicide) and drug overdose/poisoning. Note the tremendous change, 110% increase, in 'accidental poisonings'. Could this possibly be fentanyl related drug deaths? "From 2019 to 2020, the RELATIVE INCREASE IN THE RATE OF FIREARM-RELATED DEATHS of ALL TYPES (suicide, homicide, unintentional, and undetermined) AMONG CHILDREN and ADOLESCENTS WAS 29.5% — more than twice as high as the relative increase in the general population.""In addition, DRUG OVERDOSE/POISONING and POISONING INCREASED BY 83.6% from 2019 to 2020 among children and adolescents, becoming the third leading cause of death in that age group. THIS CHANGE IS LARGELY EXPLAINED BY the 110.6% INCREASE IN UNINTENTIONAL POISONINGS from 2019 to 2020. The rates for other leading causes of death have remained relatively stable since the previous analysis, which suggests that changes in mortality trends among children and adolescents during the early Covid-19 pandemic were specific to firearm-related injuries and drug poisoning; COVID-19 ITSELF RESULTED in 0.2 DEATHS per 100,000 CHILDREN and adolescents in 2020."https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC10042524/

Thanks! This is very helpful because concentrates on youth, so I bookmarked it. The next challenge it to find an explanation for the "gaps" (adjacent age groups much less affected by COVID policies).
