@kallekn But not all Russians live in Russia. When we demand that Russians speak out, we want to see those who live in other countries and remain silent or passively support the Kremlin's narratives.

@limping Okay. I'm saying that Russians who no longer have a chance to go to Russia voluntarily remain silent.

@Distante what exactly should these people do? The most who are not in politics just go on with their life. Should they go on demonstration or something? Also note that extremist/terrorist status is given out very liberally these days, even if someone is out of reach for good, they often still have ties to people who remain here and don't want causing them problems for no practical effect as any interaction with such status becomes contagious.@limping

@shuro @limping There are two points. "Not in politics" sounds cynical. We are talking about Russia's war. Moreover, it is politics that determines the status of Russians in foreign countries. Navalny's wife (who is an enemy of the Kremlin) talks about this more than the need to support Ukraine.I am saying that it is precisely those Russians who no longer have a chance to go to Russia (enemies of the Kremlin) who represent disappointment

@Distante Again, what exactly do you expect from people like Yulia Navalnaya? I am not following her closely but I know she expressed her stance pretty clearly several times and it was hardly pro-Kremlin.By "Not in politics" I meant ordinary people who weren't political activists in the first place or are now.@limping

@shuro @Distante @limping Aleksey Navalny was sitting on the fence after the annexation of Crimea, but after February 2022 (and already in jail) he was very clear, strongly against the war and even against the annexation of Crimea. Yulia Navalnaya has chosen not to talk about Ukraine, possibly for strategic reasons, but that makes her completely irrelevant.People on Russia cannot do much, if I was there myself I'd probably keep quiet and try to leave. But outside Russia is different.

@kallekn I am just not sure what exactly is expected of them and "is not enough".First, pretty much everyone who left or escaped Russia has antiwar stance and expressed it.Second, these people can't do much either except provide support to each other and those inside. They hardly can demand Europe to do anything, especially military action regarding another country. They are not constituents nor legal representatives.Third, they are still people and have opinions which are not always binary. Issues are complex and so are opinions. E.g. Navalny was against Crimea annexation yet he said it was impossible to resolve it quickly after the fact. It wasn't about domestic popularity, he just knew he was talking about territory with 2M population, complicated past and more than decade of being integrated into Russia, essentially being a part of it. You can't just reverse it just like you can't just cut off Ireland for example.Or those against the war can see it quite different as well - some see the only way in increasing violence until devastating defeat, some think it is better to wear off aggression while minimizing casualties and some, me included, see stopping the shooting as top priority to resolve what is left diplomatically. The end goal is the same but there is a lot of discuss and agree or disagree. This is normal. Some narratives intersect, some don't.So, what is the exact problem with these people?@Distante @limping
