       @Bernard The founders of the USA had a classical education, so they knew what worked for the Greeks and Romans, as well as what failed.If you want to build an airplane or treat a heart attack, stick to 20th and 21st century knowledge.But in the whole field of human relations, we have not really made much progress, and all of history is relevant.Technology has merely let us screw up faster and on a larger scale.

When you understand how people of the distant past thought and what propelled them to great achievements in culture and civilization, you can compare to the modern world to see how things have really gone wrong. The focus on current events and technology trends distracts us and disconnects us from the wisdom of the past.
