@oliphaunt I guess cash it is when that happens. =/ At least a new law has come into effect, that some critical swedish businesses (food, pharmacies) are forced to accept cash. So that's at last a tiny light in the dark.

@h4890 the goal is obv to ban the cash. I'd much rather starve to death than take the mark of the beast. There is probably ways to circumvent the system but not easily.

@h4890 I believe in the Bible and the book of revelation talks about the mark of the beast. That's why the surveillance will be unavoidable, there will be the mark of the beast and those who take it will go to hell. God is testing whether people are faithful to him or to the beast (the state).

@oliphaunt Yes, for some that is the goal. But swedes are a worrying kind, and many people and politicians worry about getting invaded by russia, and that if electricity goes down, society stops. That is why the law was created so that society would have some way of continuing to work in case electricity disappears. But yes... the trend is pretty clear. The coming EU digital wallet, and mandatory ID-controls for internet access, and mandatory encryption backdoors are just a few elections away.

@oliphaunt Some surveillance will be worse than others. I think for many years, you will be able to live in a house in a forest, and there will be no surveillance. Sweden and finland both are too small and too poor to be able to afford policemen in every single little town in the country side, so there remains some kind of freedom. But in the cities, there will be cameras and AI. Difficult to avoid, and online, there will be surveillance. For a while, darknet and encrypted connections will

@oliphaunt give us some semblance of online freedom, but I worry about the day when the government moves on to white lists and default blocking of any encrypted connections outside the white lists. Steganography could solve some problems, black market non-surveiled VPN:S could work for a while, but if they clamp down on the internet itself, I only see the following ways: 1. Good old sneakernet.2. LoRA networks. 3. Old school phone + modem. A reversion to BBS times. 4. HAM radio networks.
