Oh come on. Is there really a "z" in the word "cozy"? it looks incorrect to me. "cosy?" They feel like two different words. cosy: safe warm, snug-fitting, the comforts of home, traditional, muted and softcozy: informal, calm, yet playful, whimsical and nonthreatening.(Normally, spellcheck will at least recognise both spellings. Not with cozy.)Let's make all UK/US spelling splits into separate ever so slightly different words.

@futurebird utilize: menacing. evokes throwing something into a drum shredder, or the sight of a combine harvester approaching slowly and inexorably from a distant fieldutilise: intimidating, a bit distasteful. a librarian with a plummy accent offering you the fifth installment in a series talking around how to extract bone marrow without ever mentioning bones or marrow

@llewelly @futurebird yes, gray is more distinctly gray than grey (which is insipid). But colour is brighter and more saturated than color. The 'u' makes it a bit extra. And a pronunciation only thing: a schedule (skedule) is a lot more firm itinerary than schedule (shedule). The latter is just a guideline, the former is mandatory.

@louisa_ @llewelly colour: hand mixed and slightly nonuniform, way a person's face can change when nervous dappled, or subtly shiftingcolor: uniform in hue, saturation and brightness. You can assign a hex code to a color.

@futurebird @louisa_ I remember when I had to hand mix the colors of a CRT by fiddling with knobs (often on its backside ... but sometimes hidden under a front panel)

@futurebird I pronounce cozy as cozzie (rhyme with Ozzy) to highlight the horror. I think this is how to say it, going by Lisa with an S, Liza with a Z.

@c0dec0dec0de @llewelly "English of all languages degraded by stealing words from another language?!"If English gave back all the stolen words we'd all just need to sit there and be silent.

@futurebirdgrey: an achromatic color between black and white.gray: an onomatopoeia used to designate an obnoxious braying sound.I don't know why, but I've always hated the American spelling of this word and will always fight with my spell check over it.
