When writing about various spiders, beetles and other arthropods that mimic ants there is this subtext "of course you'd pretend to be an ant, no one wants to mess with, eat, or get involved with them."Sometimes it feels a little mean, but if you think about it all of the ant mimics just prove how amazing ants are. Everyone wants to be an ant.

@futurebird I don’t know them well enough, but they’ve been around long enough that I wouldn’t be surprised if there was an ant species out there that mimics an ant mimic, but we don’t know because the ant mimic species died out and the ant one didn’t.

@futurebird last summer I saw a beetle that mimicked an ant. It even moved in the same way as an ant of its mimicked species would. Very cool animal.
