There has been some great criticism of film adaptions at the Vegas Sphere, and of it ... you know existing. But it does exist and I can't help but wonder what would a good artistic experience in that space be like? It could be incredible. It's basically like a theatre. Any production would need to use the techniques from theater to draw focus, and tell a story. But you can also use special effects in a way that's not possible in a theatre. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IgEmsKtdsRs

I'm intrigued by the possibility of totally overwhelming the audience. A lot of my friends write and make films. Film has always bored me a little. It's just not as exciting as a show. Film can lack spectacle and the way it can be watched anywhere makes it feel smaller. So, even though I agree with a lot of the criticism I find the concept of a "film space" like this kind of exciting. I think "you could really do something memorable in there"Will anyone do anything memorable?

@queenofnewyorkI like to see the Metropolitan Opera's Live In HD series in my local movie theater. The experience is great, live, great sound, huge format. Best of all worlds. They also do a recorded re-run the following week. I've been to those too. They are nearly as great. Just missing a slight intangible, the mere knowledge that it isn't live has a small effect for me. But very small. @futurebird

@snork303 @queenofnewyork That's fascinating. Is that still in theatres anywhere?

@futurebird I watched my 14 struggle not to ugly cry during Les Mis last month at the death of that little boy on stage. I've never seen her get that emotional watching a movie.

@futurebird Definitely not in Kansas. What a travesty. Perfectly encapsulates the artistic void at the heart of much of this crap.
