       Anybody who has existed in public with boobs - or spent time in crowded public spaces with their eyes open - knows what the overwhelmingly most likely cause is when a woman in her 20s "gets into an argument" with a man in his 40s on a subway or in a public square. He felt entitled to makes demands of her, she said no or ignored him because she didn't owe him anything AND knew he might be dangerous. He proved he was. Bystanders did nothing, assuming it was "just routine" patriarchal harassment.

       Some of them probably sat there thinking she should be more polite and accommodating. Others thought she should be more forceful and confident. Others made judgements about what she was wearing. A few thought she should have stayed home altogether and left the public sphere to men or only traveled with a male chaperone or a large group. Some thought the man was a jerk but saw it as a one off problem. A few recognized patriarchal entitlement but let it slide. Nobody stopped it.
