       When I was eight I found a little plaster angel statue on the side of the street. I picked it up and brought it home and painted it and loved it, despite my parents being super freaked out by it. The paint was cheap acrylic so it started peeling and tarnishing in horrifying ways, not limiting my love for it at all. I asked mom a few years ago what had happened to it after she and dad split up and she said “I’m so sorry, but it went into the trash, it was so upsetting looking” and I grieved

       Despite my mother swearing up and down she tossed it, she found it way in the back of the top shelf of a closet this weekend which seems on brand for it

       Trying to decide if I want to repaint it or at the very least just peel the rest of the rotting paint off of it
