The 2010s trend of having signs on the walls in your house has been getting a lot of hate but it won't go away. I don't have strong feelings about it. Of all of the things I dislike about the first photo the sign is at the bottom of the list. It's funny. It's the only memorable thing. What is going on in the suburbs that these signs are needed?

@futurebird I just recently saw a commercial for... I don't even remember what it was for (man commercial designers suck, lol. If no one remembers what you're advertising, you have failed.) Anyway, they had a bathroom and it had an elaborate metal sign that said "bath" in cursive. Like someone spent money on that thing and probably a decent amount since it was metal and everything. Because, what? They couldn't remember that the room that contains the tub and etc contains the tub and etc?

@futurebird First I'll split functional from purely aesthetic signs. Aesthetic, I don't judge other people's taste, just whether I agree with it. Functional, well, I'd label a whole lot more of what's in the fridge than my wife puts up with, because I don't like wasting time looking at multiple opaque containers to find the thing I want.(I do quite fancy one of those plaques reading "In this house we believeā¦ this is not a place of honor. No highly esteemed deed is commemorated here." etc.)

@darkling I keep my label printer at work and it's how I manage my aggressive impulses. eg from people taking my very nice office supplies. I will label a *dry marker* (mine are refillable and someone was "borrowing" them then tossing them out! )

@futurebirdI got a sign that says "Dramatic Exit" and I plan to put it in the hallway pointing at my front door because it amuses me. It's a beaten up and slightly rusty one and I love it.
