Well it sure does sound like Eugen exited for a measly €1M and Mastodon is left with the co-founder of Twitter in a leadership position. I mean, is it too much to ask for for the alternatives to not be run by the same people who built the things they purport to be an alternative to? @aral It’s frustrating how we keep seeking alternatives, only to find the same old figures behind the scenes. Feels like we’re stuck in a loop. Real digital independence should come from those who truly believe in it—not just a rebranded version of the same system💔

This person was a co-founder, and apparently had nothing to do with the subsequent Nazification of the site. They might even have some useful domain insight.
