Katherine Rich gives Uber far too much credit. https://www.rnz.co.nz/national/programmes/morningreport/audio/2019013122/what-uber-ruling-could-mean-for-gig-economy They didn't do any of it to 'make the world better'. The innovation was obvious & inevitable - that's not worthy of praise. They only did what they did to make their shareholders profit. That's not a noble pursuit. Not even a little bit.

@lightweight Couldn't agree more. How quickly we forget they entered AoNZ and immediately ignored the rules about rider and driver safety ( some bullsh about 'our drivers are not really drivers'). And went on from there. That's not to say our regular taxi firms are providing a great service though. Some are amazing and some really expensive.

@lightweight Uber didn't succeed through innovation. They succeeded because they burned investor money for years to use predatory pricing to achieve dominance. Uber is a scam dressed as a legitimate business, and Katherine Rich is either a useful idiot or deeply disingenuous.
