       @ricci It boggles the mind how much has been wasted on this. Ending the war on drugs also doesn't mean suddenly everyone is going to start doing heroine, either (which is what some people seem to think will happen).

       @gwozniak One lesson that I deeply hope the left takes from our current era is that things we "knew" about politics are not in fact correct. For example: for decades the prevailing thought was "we'll never stop taking our shoes off at airports, there is too much liability for anyone to be willing to be the one who reduced 'security' measures". Then Trump is just like "nope, not doing that anymore" (I suspect because he found out about it for the first time, having never actually set foot in the peon portion of airports), and poof, things (very slightly) better. Now let's do that with some shit that matters.
