@futurebird @castanea_jo I'd have to really learn to type that word "mycelial". Takes lots more excercise than "viral"

@futurebird I think it is not so much a replacement as a different termA post that goes viral flares up into a huge spike of attention but just as quickly dies down againA post that goes mycelial keeps getting smaller spikes of attention over time as one person with a relatively isolated but well-connected network who hadn't seen it before discovers and shares it

@futurebird <Both boosts and doesn't boost> because an exploring mycelial network's response to an "or" question is "yes".

@EricLawton @castanea_jo Strands of a mycelial network may become isolated. They will not die, they will continue to spread: a separate network. Provided they do not diverge too much from their host, should they reconnect again, the information carried along the mycelial threads will still be interpreted by the wider network. Momentous decisions, such as the start of production of fruiting bodies, will be made based on the totality of chemical information.

@futurebird use it as you please, but as in all matter in this world, i'll remind you that such views, like trends and religions are like penises : it ok to have one, you can be proud of it if it pleases you, but it's not ok to forcibly shove it down someone else's throat. ;D

@futurebird I think this describes something that reoccurs from unexpected sources more than it does something that spreads rapidly along known vectors

@futurebird You have good followers!I often use it saying "build a mycelium". Or: "become a blob". 😁 Well, a blob is no fungus but a slime mould behaving similarly: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Physarum_polycephalum
