It's pretty discouraging to check my art on Pixiv when the recommended works below it feature someone blatantly using repainted/edited AI generations in my style, trying to pass them off as their own.And of course, they are just pushing their Fanbox and have somehow had 8 different styles in a short amount of time. I guess I am just the flavor of the month to them. Pixiv has really gone to shit.

@MoeMortem it really is sad to see how much AI is in pixiv, why can’t every platform ban AI especially the art ones man

@MoeMortem it’s sadly the only way those “artists” can think of, which is disappointing, I’d rather have a new unique style than whatever slop they can throw together with AI

@MoeMortem I've long since disabled the ability to see AI art on pixiv, and thankfully they're...reasonably good with enforcing it being tagged correctly. Usually. It got so tiring seeing a thumbnail for something and thinking 'oooh new piece by [artist]' only to realize its a damn model trained on it. At the very least Pixiv does seem to try to enforce AI image tags, most places don't even pretend.

I am generally fine with people who mark it as AI Generated. But this one that I am rambling about is clearly using AI and is trying to pass the works off as legitimate to push their Fanbox.

@Kitakori I think it really just comes down to experience to clearly identify users who try and pass generative art off as their own. Just because it is blatant to me, doesn't mean it will be blatant to someone who does art casually or doesn't draw at all.

@MoeMortem pixiv's handling of AI has really put me off the site. not just allowing it but really poor labeling standards and making it near impossible to completely hide it

@Berzira I really don't mind people trying to profit off AI works. If someone chooses to buy AI art, and they are aware of it, more power to them. But when that profit is made purely because the buyer believes it is fully hand-drawn, it's a bit sad. There are a lot of artists out there who make a living off their art, and a lot of people who value the human effort/element behind it.

@punishedmob True, I am mainly on Baraag now just because I have only ever seen like 2-3 blatant AI artists on here compared to like the thousands on Pixiv. I have no idea if the one's I have seen on here are even still a thing.

@MoeMortem Honestly, most people who call themselves AI artists are just looking for a shortcut. It's kinda funny—even some of these so-called AI artists who've been around for a while are still total newbies when it comes to actually using the tech.

@MoeMortemWhat annoys me the most is the amount of AI on Pixiv that isn't labeled correctly. Otherwise, I wouldn't see it. Pixiv needs to start cracking down on improper labels.

@Juju3D @MoeMortem And many actively prevent their stuff being tagged as AI, maxing out the tag count to prevent suggestions. Some even dare to brag about it in their bio / comments.

@Mnizgln I guess if they see no point in understanding things on a deeper level (as long as the quality is acceptable to them), then they won't see much point in understanding their tooling better. It does make me feel bad for new artists who have to compare their progression to people just clicking a button. :cryingcat: But there is a lot of joy in watching yourself slowly improve and understanding how you want to express yourself in your art.

@TeamPervy I appreciate the kind words Mia. And yeah, it's been about 15 years now (old man status) since starting digital art, and I only really started to find my stride in what I wanted my art to be about halfway through that. So it just feels weird seeing someone lazily rip it off with poorly edited AI in the hopes of profiting off people. Art is not my main source of income, so I can only imagine how it feels for people where it is their livelihood.

@MoeMortem I think one source of this not even AI, but the fact the newer generations are not learned in proper internet behavior. I mean both they don't know how is accaptable to act and people forget how to make people act certain way got punished in peacfull ways. Actually part of the problem is many platform punish you if you call out people or use old 4chan method like spaming a meme picture to annoye bad actors. These people do this as they don't fear consequences. Why would they?

@MoeMortem On the other hand Ai initself is a problem as curently a wild west tool, the morality and ethics of it's usage is not solidified yet so bad actors exploit it until they can. Ultimaetly the solution is our hand. This is something that we all need to remember. If we not push for some kind of solution then things will still happen eventually, but much slower. This is something that we always need to keep in mind.

@MoeMortem As someone who has knowingly followed some AI accounts with pics I'll admit got me revved up, I believe it has its benefits AS A TOOL ONLY, and if it's only been trained to draw in your style(an artist his/her self feeds it the work)and you admit AI was used in the process, then I guess I can live with that. But stealing from an artist and they say they aren't okay with it being used in ai is a dick move. Sorry you're going through it right now.

@DailyBun Sadly, I already had a large amount of art published before AI was even a thing, so even if I started protecting it now, it's a bit too late for most models trained on my art. People purely just having fun with AI using my art is whatever; my real problem is with people trying to pass the results off as something they legitimately painted.

@MoeMortem For example, I'm extremely irritated by writers who use AI. To understand that it's AI, you need to not just glance at the image, as in the case of Art, but read to the very end, which can take hours. Especially if only a section is started by the AI based on the previous 100 chapters.

@MoeMortem Many artists are leaving Twitter these days because their work is censored, which blocks promotion altogether, and thieves are using the generator to mock artists by distorting their work.
