Apparently one of the things driving the whole bathroom with no tub "trend" are tall people who do not fit in them so the tall people just get rid of the tub and have only a shower. Excuse you I was swimming in there.Tall people must be stopped. Grab their knees!

@futurebird I've not had a bath for years. Showers are faster, easier, more hygienic and use much less energy and water. I'm pretty sure if I wanted a bath, I'd need to turn the (gas) water heater to boost well before so there was enough hot water in the storage tank.I'm definitely not tall. 😅

@futurebird our apartment has a pretty small bathroom and the landlord decided to install a half size tub instead of a shower. Not only is this tub useless for anyone over 1,60m as a tub it also means there is only space for an extra small washing machine. Also the shower that's installed in the tub has the shower head so that my head touches it (I'm 1,75 ish) so I always have to lower my head to wash my hair, and for my partner it's even worse. So yeah I'd much prefer a normal shower

@futurebird @orangelantern @totalclaireity 6ft giant? 👀 my definition of “tall” starts at 6’4”.(A step-brother, two exes, and a gaming buddy are that height. Dad’s bestie is 6’6”. Another gaming buddy is 6’7”. The punk drummer I went to high school with was 6’9” when he got his license and unknown height by graduation. People who are 6’4” don’t like being called “tall, I guess,” though.)

@futurebird seems fishy to me. Tall people get more bad backs and after about 40 soaking it in the tub gets really useful. You can get different tub sizes anyway.A good installer can also lose most of the feet on kitchen units, or indeed add extra height for tall people.

@futurebird Tubs that are 6 feet long (183 cm) do exist, but I have never seen one installed. For a long time, architects in pursuit of the cheapest possible lavatory have put the walls 5 feet (153 cm) apart. Apparently, this is because architectural offices all have razor-sharp lighting fixtures dangling from the ceiling 175 cm off the floor, and tall architects inevitably have an accidental decapitation accident before moving past ridiculously complex roofing.

@futurebird That's not why there are no tubs, citizen. That's just plumbers and contractors and builders and bankers dividing the people against each other. A tub adds 200 dollars in parts and at least that much in labor to bathroom construction cost.A 43 L x 28 W X 24 H (inches, sorry) tub is perfectly adequate for people up to at least 6 feet 3 inches in height. Immersion is neck-high and the water stays hotter longer.
