Okay, but hear me out, what if we produce an entire generation of students who are *all* the ones who did nothing in the group project?

@ricci Only related because it's AI, but I just finished a great book from Bruce Schneier about AI and democracy! I'd recommend it. I appreciated the optimism and just hearing about AI that isn't just people trying to supercharge my workflow or something 😆https://bookshop.org/p/books/rewiring-democracy-how-ai-will-transform-our-politics-government-and-citizenship-bruce-schneier/32497519c5776e99

@ricci At my old job, there was one guy who was worse than the guys who never contributed to the group projectHe was the guy who showed up to the first meeting of the group, dropped a completed project on the desk, said he'd done the whole thing by himself the night before, and we need not bother checking his work because it was obviously correct[He also told me he'd done the same thing at Harvard, because of course he did]Unlike AI, he did the actual work. Like AI, it needed redoing

@ricci AI “learns” and emulates what’s fed to it, producing a similar result at a higher speed. Without human creativity it will plateau and eventually stall. If art deco or nouveau didn’t exist, would a computer have created it? I seriously doubt it. A computer has no conscience, no soul, no spirit and no compassion. It doesn’t feel the emotion in a piece of literature or the see beauty in a painting. We simply tell it how we feel it should respond to the things it’s exposed to.

@ricci #AI might be okay if we had #UBI and it was only trained on the notes of people who did the homework. Unfortunately, the training data is mostly the emailed excuses for why the assignment wasn't turned in on time.

@ricci This will create a generation that can't do anything on its own. Simplifying everything and having someone else do it also diminishes the ability to do things independently, and that's another point what makes AI dangerous. It dumbs humanity down even more. No more independent thought. Nothing done by yourself. I hate AI not just because it steals jobs, it gives so many more bad things about it. Its not good for us if we let the mashine do everything.

@ricci AI is good at analyzing or processing complex data to assist in things like seeing code errors, writing plus other niche things but it's a tool to help you understand and get better not solely rely on.

@ricci I used to tell graduate students upon ariving to the lab, remember how in group projects you were the one who did everything and felt responsible for delivering? Now all your peers are that kind of person, so you can rely on them. I wonder how's that going to change.#academia

@ricci The issue is very simple. It does not matter so much which tools were used, although they do matter, but whether one has learned how to learn and think. And this of course cannot be assessed only through group projects but must be actively developed by the teacher.

@albertcardona @ricci The FBI already said "there is no client list". The Epstein List is a list of the cloned children who were mind programmed. Here are some of the names you will find on the Epstein List:Sabrina CarpenterIvanka TrumpBritney SpearsDemi LovatoJustin TimberlakeMiley CyrusTaylor SwiftHilary DuffChristina AguileraZendayaJake ShortSelena GomezZac EfronLindsay LohanParis HiltonThe "Samson Option" is the activation code for the Self-Destruction option in the mind controlled clones. And who knows how many people are clones at this point? And when he had opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven about the space of half an hour.” And I saw the seven angels which stood before God; and to them were given seven trumpets.” And the seven angels which had the seven trumpets prepared themselves to sound.” The first angel sounded, and there followed hail and fire mingled with blood, and they were cast upon the earth: and the third part of trees was burnt up, and all green grass was burnt up. And the second angel sounded, and as it were a great mountain burning with fire was cast into the sea: and the third part of the sea became blood;” And the third part of the creatures which were in the sea, and had life, died; and the third part of the ships were destroyed.” And the third angel sounded, and there fell a great star from heaven, burning as it were a lamp, and it fell upon the third part of the rivers, and upon the fountains of waters;” And the fourth angel sounded, and the third part of the sun was smitten, and the third part of the moon, and the third part of the stars; so as the third part of them was darkened, and the day shone not for a third part of it, and the night likewise.” And I beheld, and heard an angel flying through the midst of heaven, saying with a loud voice, Woe, woe, woe, to the inhabiters of the earth by reason of the other voices of the trumpet of the three angels, which are yet to sound!” And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from heaven unto the earth: and to him was given the key of the bottomless pit

@ricci Tbf, this has only made an existing problem worse. Many professors don't actually put much effort at all into their classes except for initially planning the course and physically doing the lectures.Either by only having assignments and quizzes that can be easily automated or in some cases professors just use textbook questions. In either case, either AI or just actually looking at online is usually more than enough.I don't think things will actually change unless colleges and universities start focusing on actual learning instead of metrics and so called job readiness.

@ricci Not really statistically possible. But we may have a system making these students get 'better jobs'. It might well explain why some influential people do think AI is a good thing: they never valued team work and do not know what it means to take responsibilities.
