@Nonilex We're not a hereditary monarchy, and it's statistically unlikely JFK's grandson is really the best candidate for the job out of everyone eligible. (Plus, the younger Kennedy generations haven't all worked out well in politics as it stands.)Not that the family connections should bar the guy from trying... I just really look askance at someone's name or family ties being useful a factor in predicting how good a public servant they'd be.I'd love to see a wealth cap for candidates. Is this fellow rich because of his family? Politics needs to stop being a playground for millionaires and billionaires.PS: How many people hear the name John F. Kennedy and think "Bay of Pigs" or "Operation Zapata?" Not enough, probably.

@Nonilex I don’t understand why people care about dynasties. I would much rather know his position on progressive topics than his genealogy. I get it’s not nothing: I’m a son of a university professor. That absolutely helped me understand the workings of a university when I became a professor.. but it didn’t make me a -good- professor and wasn’t a credential for the job.

@Nonilex While I’m sure that Schlossberg has qualifications, his lineage to JFK shouldn’t have any “star power” affecting election outcomes any more than someone showing bloodlines to either Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln or even Donald Trump.

People have good questions about the qualifications of #JackSchlossberg.+ good points about dynasties.Counter on dynasties: after Trump’s wins, it’s clear Americans love name recognition. I’d rather any progressive in office than a Vance type, if that’s what it takes. Yes he is a #SocialMedia wonk, but social media savvy is important these days particularly as the electorate skews younger, & he uses platforms to inform followers on #law, #SCOTUS & #politics. @Nonilex okay, hold on a second. I am certainly willing to give him a chance, but these are hardly "his own accomplishments." Degrees from ivy league universities and positions from companies in a country where his mom was an ambassador are literally the basic part of the nepo baby package.
