At 13, I joined a Wolfenstein 3d modding forum. 22 years later, my posts are still there - and still searchable. The discussion I had in Discord 2 years ago? Not so much. We chose this. We can choose better. https://blog.discourse.org/2025/11/the-death-of-community-memory/

@Daojoan All so predictable, all predicted. Folks shoudl run their own damn forums But forums aren't cool. The last car forum I belonged to had posts dating back decades. And saved posts intentionally as collective memory. Etc.Its all been there this whole time. Boring old shit like phpBB. It just works. And 10000 times better than discord or anthing -- but only if you value the human conversations and not the fucking tech itself.I'm moving some of my own stuff back to print.

@DaojoanThey might still be on the blog, but are search engines (let's face it, mostly google) searching it? I have the RepRap Blog on blogger.com and neither google nor ducksuckgo index the blog content.
