@m0xEE (I have two modems of this model number, in different enclosures. One was found in an ewaste container, the other bought at a flea market. Ironically, it was the thrown-away one that worked fine, the flea market one needed one new capacitor. And it is that one that is connected to the Palm.)

@ozzelot@mstdn.socialYou still have analogue telephone lines in mainstream?Here they've been replaced with GPON routers a while ago — the router can emulate the analogue line and dial tone, so old people don't have to bother buying new phones for the landline — those who are younger switched to cell phones entirely and often never even had a land line.But this could probably be a big city thing, or even Moscow-only 🤔

@ozzelot@mstdn.socialWoah, sadly, I don't have any of my old modems anymore — the ones with "true" serial, but I might have a few USB ones — considering I haven't used them all as donors when replacing damaged USB ports 😏I also have a couple of old ThinkPads with built-in modems, not sure those still work as I've never used them for this before.
