Yeah, so I have trouble with my backup. You see, the USB HDD enclosure I use seems to sometimes disconnect drives. And because I can't seem to be able to disable write cache to them, that inevitably looses some data. The problem is I use #Btrfs and it assumes the write order to disks is kept. Interrupted write cache might violate that. So I have 500+ corruption errors in my Borg repository. Borg crashes during a repo check, but I can still backup to it and mount archives...#borgbackup #sysadmin

@unfa Use a different enclosure, port and/or cable until you have storage that respects write barriers. No way around that, no matter what fs.

@Atemu Yeah, I was advised over Btrfs mailing list to use udev rules, but seems like I can't get that working. I tried blocking the UAS kernel module. The drives were just unavailable without it, and I don't know of alternatives (advisor didn't say).I am planning on building a low-power NAS, but I see that USB enclosures aren't gonna cut it. I have about 10 HDDs (mostly 4 TB ) that I could make an array of and use better with ZRAID6, but I don't have a machine that could take so many disks...

@unfa @Atemu in terms of building a low-power NAS, I can recommend this guide:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MucGkPUMjNoI got one of those Fujitsu motherboards with plenty of SATA, and with some powertop tweaks, I got the whole NAS down to 8W in idle when the HDDs are spun down.

@wolf480pl @Atemu Really valuable video thanks! I might use that, as it seems the miniPC I got is a bit limited in terms of IO. Maybe I can find a SATA controller over M.2. WiFi key, plus extra power brick... IDK.
