@neauoire @occult @rek especially sailing on the trade winds we could go weeks without seeing another vessel, since most of the cargo ships are taking more direct routes.

@th @neauoire @rek yeah, I wasn't sure if it has become a thing in the sailing community. I feel like it fits in nicely, but it's obviously a bit redundant, I suppose, given the many established and reliable means of communication available. With it becoming more popular, it might not hurt to have a node when you're hanging off the coast somewhere!Regardless, I've been enjoying reading the many adventures of cool hackers at sea!

@neauoire @rek I’ve been reading posts about your travels aboard PINO as well as Permacomputing principles and have wondered if you’ve ever tried MeshCore or Meshtastic while sailing. I should include @th in this question as well.It seems like something that would fit nicely into permacomputing and your low bandwidth/limited communication needs. There’s a large community of users in the PNW and we have created a very large mesh here in Boston.

@occult @rek @th we haven't, we almost never encounter any other boats in our travels, let alone anyone who would understand how to setup a node. We use radios for all our telecommunications. While in New Zealand, we sailed with folks who used Scuttlebutt, but that was sort of a one off.
