       I'm not a weapons expert let alone a combat expert but:The "arms race" mentality you sometimes see from Gun People seems to be of limited relevance to the average person since it mostly applies to actual military or paramilitary warfare.Yes, a .38 revolver has less capacity and stopping power than a 9mm+P semiauto that holds 17 rounds. A submachine gun doesn't have the range, accuracy, or armor penetration of a rifle. A throwing star is probably not an ideal weapon for most circumstances in general.HOWEVER:> You're much more likely to face violence from random criminal thugs, "anarcho"-communist trash mobs, or Religion of Peace adherents having a chimpout (goatout?) than you are from people with tricked-out rifles + armor + advanced training> The places where this kind of violence is most likely are (by a mysterious coincidence) also usually the same places that have the most restrictions on what kind of weapons you can own and wield, anyway> A bullet to the face is a bullet to the face. Someone shot in the T-zone with a Jimmy-Carter-era snubnose is very likely NOT going to be laughing with relief that it wasn't a super tac'ed-out modern carbine chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor (though actually surviving the former is slightly more likely)TL;DR being responsibly armed AT ALL is much more important and useful than only having the coolest shit featured on such-and-such GunTube channel. If anything, I'd worry more about having your ass covered, LEGALLY speaking, since those same states are more likely to have Sorosian prosecutors slavering in their fetid lairs to destroy the lives of people who dare engage in self-defense vs. their pet Orcs.Of course, New York was already THE WORST place in America for gun ownership. Even in California the average schmuck can reasonably buy a home-defense shotgun or something. Personally, I just would not live anywhere that puts you at the mercy of leftist government officials' whims when it comes to "being responsibly armed AT ALL" as I said above.Idk, food for thought.
