       I was suprised to learn that #latinoware 2025 (held at the 🇧🇷🇵🇾🇦🇷 triple border) had over 5,000 atendees and is now the largest FOSS event in Latin America (yay!). It was on the same dates as #gsoc in Munich so I couldn't have attended anyway.For some reason I lost touch with this event (I gave a talk there around... 2007 or so?). I looked it up here on the fediverse and most of the posts seem to be from 2-3 years ago.Trying to understand the disconnect...

       I'm curious myself.  I haven't even found out about this event before it was too late to even consider attending over several years; I guess they're not in the fediverse 😞their web site hasn't been very welcoming to me either: all I can get it is a demand to install and run, on my computer, javascript programs that I can't control, without any useful information made available to freedom-conscious users 😞if anyone has contacts there, maybe they'd be interested to learn that they're alienating some of their audience
