"We can't play PDF's can you send it as a PowerPoint?"I'm presenting at a conference next week. The conference management company asked me for a copy of my presentation. I told them I'd be sending them a PDF. They responded "We can't play PDF's can you send it as a PowerPoint?".WTAF?Luckily I can bring my own laptop with an HDMI port. To "play" a PDF.

@lightweight I had to repress a universe of snarky replies.

@davemosk why suppress them. They should be held up to scrutiny for being bad at their jobs.

@lightweight It is my experience that offending people is rarely the path to success.

@davemosk yes, I know you think that. But when people aren't capable of doing a job, pretending they are doesn't result in change...

@davemosk seems to me that explaining to that conference organiser is failing you is the decent thing to do - how are they otherwise supposed to improve? You're giving them important market research. Confronting the problem isn't rude. I"d argue it's respectful. And more likely to result in positive change that complaining about it on a channel they don't follow. (fwiw, when I complain about our gov't & media here, it's because they don't follow any channels I'm willing to participate in).
