Am I the only one who dislikes sidebars in web browsers?I mean, there is already not much room too spare and a pointless sidebar does not help :blobcatgiggle:

@stux I have grown to dislike "everything in same window" setup. Unfortunately only virtual desktops are best suited to work with such windows.

@stux Yes, we need as much real estate as possible, in order to accommodate the bigger fonts and paddings.

@stux sidebar for tab list is the must, as web never use the whole with of rhé screen , and some more height space for content is so nice.No other use case of sidebar

@stux i am making a browser extension that uses the sidebar to show and interact with the main page directly from your mastodon account. So if i watch a peertube video or read a ActivityPub enabled WordPress blog, I can directly interact with it or read/write comments without leaving the page

@stux sidebars in browsers or sidebars in web-pages?In browsers, I tend to fly with none, unless I'm specifically performing some sidebar-significant task (working with my bookmarks or history)In web-pages, I have less control. Sometimes they're helpful(ish), other times they're just a distraction. Though ad-blockers help immensely.

@stux What are you talking about? There is *so much horizontal space* you could have five sidebars and still have room to spare.I only need one sidebar, though. It has all my bookmarks.

@stux So I use Vivaldi and my first use on any platform with it (I refuse to sync accounts to a central location) is to turn off almost everything. No Notes, no History, no sidebars, no Speed Dial, etc. Vivaldi's configurebility is also its most annoying feature.

@stux I have a 43" 4k monitor and often forget that others don't have all that extra screen area...must make a mental note to make the sidebars hide-able.

@stux you're not alone. I don't even like extra bars. Remember the early 2000s when almost every tech company had a bar to add to your browser? (you probably don't because you were too young).

@stux @aerofreak Okay. My browser doesn't have that, so I misunderstood.
