@shalien @stella @julijane @gittaca No, that's not the reason, because for the longest time, only nouns start with uppercase letters, and no word starts with ß. So as soon as lowercase letters become available, this is no issue anymore… until it is, because you want all-caps for some interesting reason.Or you're from berlin and want to say "at home" as "ßu Hauëse".

Unicode has been around for ... a long time, and yet my home address, with that street name with that one vowel with those two pesky dots lurking above it, is garbled about half of the time. Thankfully, shipping companies get it and just work around it. Still, sigh.
