@julia@eepy.moe imagine if Valve actually try to maintain compatibility and some poor Valve employee has to backport new CEF versions to Ubuntu 12

@julia fun fact is that (according to steam support page) the recent ubuntu lts is the only supported distro, and this includes the community ubuntu unity flavor. doesn't seem intentional lolhttps://help.steampowered.com/en/faqs/view/1114-3F74-0B8A-B784

@julia steams runtime is the best example of how unstable the linux userspace api is lolthe only reason they still use ubuntu 12 is because upgrading is very likely to introduce some breaking glibc changes that make every game incompatiblealso probably because they prioritize wine/proton now (which also has a MUCH better api/abi stability than glibc lol)

@julia@eepy.moe @mkljczk@pl.fediverse.pl the distro does matter, because that container is only for the games (and only old games, at that).Steam often does run in a container, but it's always provided by the distro, and packaging it can be a headache. Steam doesn't ship with a runtime that it itself runs in.
