       if we think of Jeffrey Epstein as a kompromat op, isn't AI erotica served by centralized platforms likely to become Jeffrey Epstein blitzscaled?i don't mean to draw a moral equivalence. no children are harmed indulging a weird fetish with Mistress GPT. but it'll become a blackmail treasure trove.

       @interfluidity It was  about complicity, not primarily blackmail.Blackmail is unreliable, because how can you trust the blackmailer doesn't out you anyway? Or keep extorting you again and again? But if you do bad things together, you build a shared interest. You are already sharing secrets, now it's easier to conspire more.You know the extortionist won't use blackmail casually against you, because it's risky for him too. It's just the nuclear option in your relationship.

       @interfluidity I've been using Anthropic's Claude for some time, and recently it has been asking me questions that refer to other, earlier chats, such as "You know a lot about this, so you should be able to do it yourself"I then asked it how much it knew about me, and it gave me a fairly comprehensive overview of what it had learned, where I live, that I'm currently building an AI workstation, ... All in all a pretty comprehensive profile, quite spooky. Good to soon have a local alternative!

       @riaschissl wow. i use claude a lot, had no idea it was synthesizing a profile. i thought each session was like a new birth!

       @interfluidity They're harmed in a different way, as the whole chatbot thing allows infinite (only limited by how much computers we have, but not in perceived usefulness or how fast humans can click) scaling of energy waste.  I feel like the whole blackmail concept does not work on politicians any more. When did one resign due to a scandal last?
