arg you can't install NT4.0 from a DOS boot disk? lemme go find a NT4.0 boot disk, I guess. fun error, though: you get a completely different filesystem on DOS, and it just holds a readme telling you that you fucked up

@foone ISO is very fascinating in that regard. You can even have different file systems for big and little endian systems which was used for Mac and Windows software back when Macs still were PowerPC based 😲

@foone Ehm, I think there are DOS boot disks that support ISO-9660 though. Or what exactly was the win95 boot disk?I thought it had a driver for cd drives with iso 9660 but I could be wrong though...

@onfy it does, it just isn't enabled by default and may not work depending on your particular motherboard/laptop

@philpem 86 is set to emulate a 200mhz Pentium Pro with a ramdisk-fast hard drive and a similarly fast CD-ROM drive, so it's quite snappy

@onfy yeah it's apparently not in the generic HAL, but if your motherboard maker providers their own HAL or has one provided by microsoft, it might work

@foone for a period of time there, NT4 was may main work environment. I really liked it. It was so much more stable a dev environment than earlier setups I’d used. Followed by Windows 2000 which was probably my favorite.
