       I've always followed my intuition and heart and done things for the experience of it, or the love of it. I chose these things over material possessions and money. Sometimes I feel like I may have made a mistake because I am not well set up for retirement AND it looms. But I can say I have loved living my life and I suppose that's better than "Dilberting" for 40 years? However, in the last 10 years I've seen a rise of THE middle management at my university and I'm ready to move on.... The bullshit meter has well and truly exploded. #academicChatter  #lifeChoices

       @SeaFury one of my volunteer jobs is to advise young AI researchers. I set them the task of reading about Katalin Kariko (the joint inventor of mRNA vaccine) and how her University treated her. They basically threw her out onto the street because they did not like her direction of research. (Of course they were wrong). The purpose of studying this case is to show that Universities are not benign bureaucracies, but in many cases actually hostile to research and innovation. https://www.thedp.com/article/2023/10/penn-katalin-kariko-university-relationship-mistreatment
