"Not everyone has enough time to learn how to draw/paint/make music" is not a valid argument. "Not everyone has the talent" is not a valid argument.(This is an example, I am laughably too poor to actually do this, but)I am not an architect. I don't wanna spend the time to learn how to build a house. I want to live in a house.Should I:A) Hire an architect and a contractor who genuinely have the skill and time to build me a houseorB) Use an "ai" to draft a blueprint and then ask a bunch of under-paid interns to build me a house"Lone-wolfing" everything is the opposite of society and civilization. Stop making shitty arguments for slop generators. Wanting to listen to good music isn't the same as believing you can make good music with a slop generator.Talent is a lie. Nobody has innate talent. That's peak cope. All skills take time and effort. Don't wanna do the time and effort? Then you don't actually wanna make the thing. You just wanna pretend and I find that offensive.I like the boring tedium of pixel art. I don't like the boring tedium of traditional painting. Guess which one I do for a living.

@jadedtwin yup, the time argument is a massive cope. People don't want to take the time. (probably because of perfectionist feelings thinking it's not worth)genuinely, if you have "no time to take" then you have other problems (and a prime setup for burnout if you have no time for hobbies)

@pixel exactly! The "no time" thing is absolutely one of those "not what you think it is" kinda moments. If you don’t have time for a hobby or new skill, then you probably have much worse things to deal with and demanding "ai" to fix it will definitely make the situation worse.

@jadedtwin there's two things people need to get away from:* perfectionism, because the people that are THAT good, worked their life to be at that level* make money a driving force behind it, kind of ties into the above as well, but people try making that a motivator and get discouraged super quickly.people should just focus on themselves, look at their improvement between pieces they made and be happy with that.

@jadedtwin also, back to 1, for people making nags at child prodigies, that do exist:children have a way easier time to adopt creative things, there's a lot less on their mind and they have the time.also "they spend their whole live to get there" still applies in the scale of time sense.

@pixel I was actually considered a "math prodigy" when I was a young kid (context I was home schooled for much of my childhood). I had a school counselor when I went back to public school at the age of 13 genuinely ask my parents why I wasn't being enrolled into college (so glad they didn't). A ton of my friends still constantly over-hype my abilities in math.At no point have I ever considered myself as such. In fact, I hated math and much preferred drama class when I could take it. The reason I was so good at math during that period of my life? All I did, 365 days of the year no breaks no vacations (seriously, the only day off I had was Christmas. I did homework on the weekends and my friggin birthday), was math equations because that's all my mom knew how to teach me and the math books were cheap. The annual tests for homeschooled kids in my state were basically "are you breathing?". This is how I know talent is a myth. I did math for 6 years straight every day. I couldn't help but be good at it.Child prodigies look like that cause the parents have the money for a tutor at a young age (people forget how rich Mozarts parents were) or they basically only allow them to do the one thing at the expense of having a childhood (or both).
