       People who "invest" their money into Counterstrike skins are even more stupid than those NFT people.At least NFTs are designed in such a way they can't just change value on the whims of a single company.

       @SuperDicq idk it's both super idiotic but I almost have more sympathy for CS traders since at least the value is tied to a skin that you can equip. NFTs are literally just nothing.That said I don't know exactly what Valve did or why they even did it. Seems like a stupid move on their part to shake up a system that was probably making them a lot of money.

       @Nigma@mastodon.social It depends on the type of NFT because there are many different ones, but some NFTs actually come with copyright transfer associated with it.So you do actually own the copyright to thing you bought, unlike CS skins where it is literally just a variable on a server that you're paying for.I don't know why Valve did it either, but I'm going to assume the reason is to fuck over third party skin sites so more people will trade the items on Steam instead where Valve can make more money on the trades.
