@sliminality it's mostly been phased out, but this used to be a big thing at German unis. Lectures start 15 min later than the stated time. Was like this during my undergrad, I quite liked it https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Academic_quarter_%28class_timing%29?wprov=sfla1

@cfbolz @sliminality Didn't this create a big headache in Norway, because everything started 10 minutes late, then they decided to start on time, and that created massive confusion?

@shriramk @cfbolz @sliminality At TU Wien having mixed ct/st schedules was a massive. PITA for room administration and scheduling (which is, or at least was, a Prolog program). They fixed it by forcing ct on everyone. (I do think the origins are due German universities rarely having a campus and the 15 mins account for travel time. At least that way makes sense to me.)

@sbrunthaler @cfbolz @sliminality I don't understand, how can you have different things on different schedules? Wouldn't that be total mayhem? Like my class is 12-1 and yours is 1-2, in the same room, but you're st and I'm ct?Btw, please tell me it was a GUPU Prolog implementation?!?

@shriramk @sbrunthaler @sliminality the main trick is two hour slots and 90 min lectures. You can do 9-10:30, I can do 11:15-12:45
