If you are as incredibly dumb as I am and have installed macOS 26 and are now wondering why so many "apps" run like crap, one of the culprits is Electron.Today, I found a solution in the depths of the web to get a bit more performance out of this crappy operating system. Just enter setenv CHROME_HEADLESS 1 in the terminal, which removes the shadow for electron apps. Just don't ask.

This "solution" actually keeps macOS 26 from getting too much into a sweat. Okay, it still runs like crap because Apple basically thought "fuck you" but yeah.

@revengeday Apple can be slandered all they want and they deserve ithowever, Electron apps run shitty because Electron is overwriting a private API, which then caused the performance issues with macOS 26, which really isn't on Apple this time.

@pixel Yep, most performance issues actually come from Electron apps since everything has to be an Electron app nowadays. When I close all the Electron apps, macOS runs at 26, okay... not great but it runs okay :D
