       @Mab_813 I think people are genuinely concerned about elitism in politics, and there's an extent to which it's being conflated with age. But at its heart, this is all about BS populism. It's the charisma you're referring to, but it's also a specific message. "They've been ignoring you, I hear you." And thank you for that, but I don't want the guy answering me to be someone with an unironic Nazi tattoo who's sexist and anti-Black. @abucci @theprospect

       @dnkboston@apobangpo.space ...and signed up with Blackwater. There are too many indications of poor judgment for me to support this man in a federal office. Regardless what he says, who supports him, or whether he has tattoos removed, I think he's demonstrated that he's either on the "bad" side of issues that matter to me, or his thinking is too muddled to develop into a coherent stance that I'd feel OK with. I understand why people might be concerned about elitism, or age, or feel like they are being ignored (I share those concerns), but it's dangerous to believe there are saviors or superheros who can fix those issues on our behalf. People with good judgment who listen to voters might move the needle, though, especially with a groundswell of actual popular support. I don't think Platner's up for that, from what I've seen.All that said: a Nazi SS tattoo? For real? Come on.@Mab_813@fedi.at @theprospect@mastodon.world
