Just throwing this out there, but if Russia really believes that (and I am sure they do, and that they're right) why wouldn't they take out the Francis Scott Key bridge as a special lesson that there are some people that you do not fuck with?Pic related.RT: https://poa.st/objects/8635fa79-0ccf-4949-9400-57322010f918

@judgedread @TrevorGoodchild A gps jam affects an area, and there really isnt anything a gps jam can do that a normal crew would be affected by, they could just ignore the GPS and use their eyes to see whats in front. So a Russian involvement would have to rely on:1. A nearsighted/dumb diversity crew not trusting their eyes and going just by gps2. No one else noticing (especiallly since every boat and car within miles would also be affected)Picrel, has a range of a few miles. A bigger one would blanket the city. Theres just too many assumptions.

@epictittus I said nothing about how it might have been accomplished because it would require in depth knowledge. My guess is a saboteur cuts power to the rudder just long enough to aim the ship at the support then turns it back on when it's too late. An accomplice observing from outside lets him know via encrypted low power radio when the ship is on an allision course.

@judgedread We'll see, they knew who it was 15 minutes after the crocus attack, maybe theyll put this one together near as fast.

@epictittus If the US government acknowledges that this is a Russian attack what are they supposed to do, wage nuclear war?The beauty of it if real is it's like the Kennedy assassination. It sends a message and there is no retaliation possible short of doomsday.

@epictittus @judgedread I'd love to look at the ships roster to see if there were any sailors from nations very friendly to Russia (not counting India itself). A nation state can pay quite a bribe for a bit of sabotage.

@brokenshakles I'd bet good money the saboteur has no idea who ordered the attack.

@judgedread Most certainly, but that does not change the fact that (relatively) big money is likely on the table due to the patron involved. I'm betting it breaks down as "We can neither confirm or deny." on one end and and "You won't tell us but who else pays this much?" on the other.

@brokenshakles 'We know it was Russia because it was a lot of money' isn't going to convince anyone that does not want to be convinced. There is another wrinkle to this but I want to confirm it before saying anything else.

@Steve_S6 My scenario is that Russia has many potential operations in sleeper mode at any given time. The outrage of the US and Ukraine sponsoring the Moscow attack triggered a decision that whichever plan could be carried out soonest would be activated.

@judgedread @Steve_S6 That's pretty standard for any Nation with an intelligence service (if they are competent), so we are now at the direct spy wars phase of conflict.I expect China to get a shot in soon too. Anyone want to take odds on the sabotage type?

@judgedread I suspect as much too, but I'm thinking that a followup will be forthcoming. Different type of attack though.

@brokenshakles Depends whether the US regime learns their lesson. Some quality backpedaling on Ukraine will signal that they got the message.

@judgedread The only thing I have ever seen from GAE is compulsive doubling-down, so this would be a departure.

@judgedread @brokenshakles At a certain point they will run out of any escalatory options aside from nukes. Russia has destroyed Ukie AD to the point where they essentially have air supremacy and are bombing at will. There are no more systems to be sent that can replenish this deficit (the Patriot batteries are useless against hypersonics are are essentially expensive multimillion dollar targets for the RF to live-fire practice on). F-16s will simply get shot down (Russia already wiped out the Lvov airbase they were supposed to be parked at a few days ago). All artillery that could be provided has been; also gone. NATO and the West simply can't keep up with Russian industrial production of shells. When that point is reached you will either see a coup and disposal of the kike cokehead comedian or a total capitulation where the Ukies withdraw behind the Dneipr river and cede whatever territory Russia wants. They may fight strongly to attempt to retain Odessa; this is why Macron is babbling about "NATO peacekeepers" specifically in that city.
