BREAKING: Holy shit motherfuckers, the Prefectural chapters have spoken:Takaichi - 36Koizumi - 11TOTAL (including diet votes):Takaichi - 149 votesKoizumi - 145 votesTakaichi Sanae is effectively the 104th Prime Minister of Japan, barring a failure of confirmation in the National Diet. If she clear this minor hurdle, she'll be the first female politician in Japanese history, and she's anti-gay marriage and a nationalist hawk.

@rlier23 @japananon I'm gonna be honest, I haven't heard of one good manhwa from South Korea yet. Besides, is South Korea's animation industry even big enough to support their own version of the anime industry? :zt_think:

JAPAN POLITICAL UPDATE:Sanae Takaichi and the LDP have retained control of the government by entering into a coalition agreement with the center-right Ishin No Kai (aka "the Japan Innovation Party").Earlier this month, Komeito (LDP's coalition partner for 26 years) broke away from the ruling party in protest over Takaichi's policy goals, throwing into question whether or not the LDP could survive the PM selection process without their votes. Opposition parties threatened to unite around a candidate and outvote them, unseating the LDP's grip on government. But unsurprisingly, the Opposition couldn't get their shit together, and Ishin no Kai crossed the aisle to form a new coalition instead. They bring 54 seats together with the LDPs 297, giving them 120 joint seats in the House of Councilors and 231 in the House of Representatives. This is enough to lock up the the PM nomination, so Sanae Takaichi will now be Japan's leader. In exchange for Ishin's coalition support, the LDP has agreed to back their proposal to reduce the number of seats in both houses of Parliament by 10%. Ostensibly to streamline government and make it more efficient, but this will cripple the voting power of smaller Opposition parties as a result. Some have said this is not a coincidence, and I'm inclined to agree. You'll see a lot of western media calling Ishin either "far right" or "libertarian", neither of which is very accurate. Their policies are a mix of good (strengthening local/regional government, reducing national government power, deregulating industries, lowering taxes) and bad (UBI, "free" eduction, etc)In the past, Komeito was seen as the brakes on the LDP. They'd threaten to withhold votes if LDP went too far, and basically kept them in check. I doubt Ishin will fulfill the same role, but they seem to be good at exploiting the LDP's weakness to extract policy concessions so far. We'll see how far the relationship goes.As for Komeito, they've basically become irrelevant. Without the LDP coalition, they're a Podunk 46-seat Opposition party with no pull to speak of. Quite a long fall... I hope the supposed principled stand was worth it.

@greyarea I didn't like having Souka Gakkai anywhere that close to the levers of power either.
