       @futurebird Moving the top row makes *a kind of* sense. You have the number pad; why have the top row numbers? I guess the rest of the design follows from that.

       @futurebird Having purchased and still using a 70% mechanical keyboard with a (smaller) volume knob, I can say that I'd keep the knob but make it smaller. The one on my keyboard is the size of one key, and that's all I need. If I press mine it toggles the mute function.

       @futurebird I guess if your desk is wide but you don't have much room towards the back due to a huge monitor or something?  ...  I don't know I got nothing.  Sure would be hard to use a mouse with this.
