How to feel relevant (or show you're an idiot): Get a piece of software written in C that works well and has been developed for decades and try to rewrite it in Rust because you think you know better than the old guys or because you need your 2 seconds of glory.Maybe some people will think I'm rude, but let's be honest here, I'm just saying what many of you already think but are too polite or afraid to say publicly.#Cprogramming #C

@lfa Oh, we have a good example for this: Ubuntu. They rewrite coreutils in Rust and shipped this change in the Release, and tons of scripts are broken just because "memory safe๐Ÿš€, blazingly fast๐Ÿš€๐Ÿš€" != "battle-tested for decades by generations of grey-beards" (what a surprise, lol :drgn_blush_giggle:)

@lfa I could rewrite CoreUtils in assembly better than you could, maggot. :marseyindignant:

@evgandr @lfa there's a reason I haven't used an Ubuntu derivative on a server in at least 5 years and why I'm switching to LMDE for Mint desktops.well... many reasons, actually.
