@darulharb Thank you! Just sent to all my children as they are very concerned about their aspirational higher academic goals and AI - my one son had dreams for optics but is concerned he will be in major debt without a job in the field. Sad because the field really interests him but he is thinking about the end outcome. https://www.pathtopro.com/

@Ballerina @darulharb I doesn't matter what your Son's end goal career looks like. All Men should have a basic understanding of Trades. He should be able to read a tape measure, know how to use a square and a level. He should know something about plumbing, basic auto repair, understand basic electrical theory. All these different things helps him to be the Man in his house.Protecting your family is more than owning a gun.

@MountainJay I have many questions about this. The for most being just how good that certificate will be in the actual trades. Seems more like a publicity stunt and a way to try and gain some customers from “graduates”.

@RandomDeamon — I’ve not looked closely at it, but I’d guess it would probably only be helpful for that newbs as a signal to potential employers or training/apprentice programs that shows initiative and very basic knowledge.

@MountainJay My concern is that you will in some states I’d not all, still need to put time in with a skilled professional before you can be considered trained and make the big money. I would have preferred if Home Despot would invested money in teaching high school students trades before they graduate. I better stop before I get up on my soap box about the overall problems with the public school system.

@RandomDeamon — preach all you like about the failing public school system! Right there with ya.Staying clear of that whole mess makes nothing but sense to me, especially for a corporate initiative like this, which just offers an intro to a trade path that might interest anyone of any age with some gumption.

@DeWalt @Ballerina @darulharb My husband is very skilled. His father was not. My MIL would deliberately sic my husband on whatever tradesman was repairing their old house and have him shadow them. This summer he installed a soft start for our a/c which works better with our generator in the event of a storm outage. He couldn't get a tech to do it, so he youtubed it. We've had no storms, but the a/c is more efficient and quiet.

@DeWalt @Joycevor @darulharb yeah my ex never did either… he figured if he could do it, why hire someone? Problem was, things he “fixed” were a hack job and never really were fixed. I remember during the divorce my neighbor going in the basement to see why the water from the refrigerator wasn’t working. We discovered there had been an electrical fire by ex’s jerry rigging. The plug from the water purifier was completely melted. 🤦♀️

@Ballerina @DeWalt @Joycevor @darulharb Everyone should've basic knowledge to fix stuff around the house.Among other reasons, because you will not always have the means to hire someone.I cannot thank my dad enough for teaching me and my brother basic skills that have helped us immensely over the years.Careerwise trades should be eagerly promoted. Too many years advocating for meaningless social degrees has meant surrendering education to leftists.
