Happy throw-away-your-perfectly-usable-computer-due-to-arbitrary-CPU-restrictions day! Anybody manage to save any by installing a real OS on it? I did, even if it was only one.#EndOf10 #Windows10 #foss

I've been both installing Linux and upgrading to Windows 11 (work around with Rufus USB installer) on "unsupported hardware". #linux #endOf10

@kzimmermann Maybe we'll find tons of perfectly usable devices in the used market, at a very low price

@kzimmermann Hm, well, technically not. I have plenty of kit that would be, but it's all had a real OS on it since the day I got it and has been working perfectly fine ever since and will continue to do so for a while yet.#EndOf10 #Tribblix #illumos

@kzimmermann Most users will just keep using windows 10 because they don't know better. I made a windows ltsc partition on my laptop for one school program that needs windows. I did not bother checking for updates since I just boot back into linux after 20 mins anyway. But I use linux on all my other computers.
