@mangeurdenuage@shitposter.world I'm ignorant but shouldn't using a VPN not affect this?

@raccoon Depends on many thing. Maybe it's just routing issues on their end.Worst case scenario, either the vpn provider is a spook or there's an issue in the handshake process and there's currently a MITM or both.It can also be software side on your system, your router etc...They can also just throttle you because you're using a vpn. Some ISPs do that if they detect any P2P system (especially on the mobile network).

@raccoon @mangeurdenuage sounds like there's better routing between your isp and airvpn and then from them to whatever you're connecting to than directly from your isp. Seen simillar situations with OVH machines that are much faster when you connect from another VPS on say Azure or AWS or whatever then directly

@shitpisscum@mrhands.horse @mangeurdenuage@shitposter.world This is super weird because it doesn't happen all the time. Just sometimes. It's so dumb.

I have had a similar issue. The issue seemed to originate from our router setup, as the issue went away with a replacement of router firmware/software. OpenWRT on the router fixed it. A router replacement likely would've solved it, as well.It was so strange. It seemed to take FOOOREEEEVEEERRR to start getting any data from any new source, like a new IP address, but once the data started flowing, it worked fine. The web browsing experience was unbearable. Like 30 seconds to load anything, but speedtest.Net still showed the full advertised network speed. For example, loading discord, gifs would take forever to load. In multiplayer games, performance was weird and sporadic. If you have a separate modem from your router, maybe you could troubleshoot by plugging your computer into the modem directly, bypassing the modem, to see if it works better without the VPN?

@inconspicuous-lurker-99@boymilk.cafe See, we have openwrt, we've had it for a long time now, and it was ALWAYS fine, until recently.
