now nearly 20 years after it was first published, rob o’hara’s Commodork remains to be the most faithful recollection of the bbs era. i’ve re-read it almost every year since it was printed, and i’m always struck by how accurate his memory for the warez and modeming scene is. i’m amazed that we still do not have a comprehensive written history of BBSes to this day. #bbs #retroComputing #warez #commodore #books

@vga256 I've never even heard of it! My view of the BBS era is totally warped! Never once did I download warez. No judgement! I played adventure, the old Fortran one, but compiled for cp/m. That was my last computer game. I did play Wolfenstein on a friend's machine one time, it was pretty hilarious I admit. And I saw Grand theft auto, also hilarious, though I know widely hated, etc. Reading that would be like reading about someone else's experience, which of course is a good thing, but weird in this case somehow. What a funny thing.
