Do I know a mechanical keyboard nerd who knows all these post-Cherry switches?I know that I like Cherry MX Blue, but it's hard to find a large keyboard with these these days.Should I look into switches from other manufacturers? Are there any that are designed to feel the same as MX Blue, so that I could buy a keyboard with them blind, without first trying them out?Was there a technological progress such that the newer switches are objectively better than the original Cherry MX ?

@wolf480pl You don't because they kinda suck. You think you do and you will and then you will try something else and realize you were wrong. But that kinda doesn't matter I guess, everyone has to try.I got a box of Akko Creamy Cyan somewhere, the force diagram looks very similar and they do feel similar (bad). They can be easily purchased in the EU, full keyboard shouldn't cost you too much. You can look for other switches, keyword these days would be clicky ig, there will be very few options. (This is also assuming you want just switches and not full keyboard with them, which may not really be possible these days anymore.)

@pony I think I want a full keyboard, ideally a mass-produced one.So knowing which switches I'll be ok with and which I won't would be very valuable...Anyway, what do you think is the problem with MX blue's force diagram and what's an example of a switch that solves it?

@wolf480pl you can buy a mass produced kit without switches and caps and provide them separately, though pricing and shipping may combine in a way it could be better to just get some off shelf basic keyboard (could be even akko) and just strip it, dunno (you'd not need the keycaps), full size is yet another choice that is not on top of the favors, but that's another thingthing with cherry mx blue is the click doesn't add much, it's a part that cannot be really lubricated, it's... well, arguably maybe a matter of choice, but i don't know anyone who tried a decent non clicky tactiles who would regret it... personally i also don't really love how these clickies are very light at first and the force bump is at bottom, like you already pressed the key decisively enough and yet you get an extra resistance?

@p I use a Razer BlackWidow (last year with Cherry switches, looks like the one in the picture) and of those macro keys on the left, I use two, and have ideas what I could do with the rest.

@pony the force bump is not at the bottom tho? It's somewhere in the middle. I can definitely get past the bump without bottoming out, and when un-pressing, move to the next key before the current one is completely released.

@p there's Razer BlackWidow v4, but that one has Razer Green switches - no idea if they're any good.Or I could get a keboard without macro keys and maybe find some keys on it I don't use and remap those... like right ctrl, right shift, pause/break, etc.But those keyboards that try to be narrower than standard are a no-go for me :/

@wolf480pl generally yes... of course, there are other considerations, like the low profile ones may not fit the plate, but you don't need to be much afraid to get any random switch

@wolf480pl i see a fully built at 589, now 200 is a significant difference especially if you were not to use the switches, but given the logistics, i'd think about it, switches are almost never sold individually so you you'd need to overbuy to provision an entire full size keyboard (there is like going to be maybe 90-piece set) and also you have to buy keycaps, those can be very inexpensive, but then they are not very good, the ones that come with keychrons are usually nice

@pAt least you have a normal nav cluster. If I didn't have to type in 2FA codes I'd consider one like that.

@pony speaking of non-clicky tactile, are Razer Green any good?If so, I could get Blackwidow V4 with these switches, and if I end up not liking them, then replace them with Gateron Blue...
