@PurpCat The ability to ruin real life businesses because of review bombing is one of those things that should've been nuked from orbit a decade ago. That's how you can tell we don't have corpo-capitalist-fascism or whatever the commies cry about; no powerful system of capitalism would let that kind of power keep operating.

@PunishedD @PurpCat what if powerful corps are more resilient than upstarts who only get in their way by succeeding?

@wertimer @PurpCat I considered that, but the corps get kicked around on Twitter too. Also specific franchise locations like individual Walmarts or McDonalds can get burned by bad reviews too.I don't think they'd let a publicly usable tool like reviews keep going, if they could stop it. I think they'd stick to the legislative route, pushing for things like Sarbannes-Oxley regulation and Covid lockdowns to drive smaller competition out. Controlling politicians is a safer and more predictable tool for them.

@PunishedD @wertimer I'm sure they keep it going because it can be rigged.I have no idea if you ever saw the Louis Rossmann videos on the Yelp cartel of fake bad reviews if you didn't pay them as an extreme example.

@PunishedD @wertimer On the other extreme, there's Amazon Reviews which are notoriously botted and some product will come out with 5 stars and by the time you buy it the negative ones rolled in. To add insult to injury, Amazon will always sweep one star reviews on sellers if they use FBA.
