       19 pine martins have been released in secret locations in Exmoor national park, UK. These guys haven't been seen in the area for more than a century, but footage has shown that they seem to be fairing well. Pic related.

       I'm guessing most of the bulk is batteries.If it were a passive transponder and there were RFID emitters all over the forest it could be just a chip. But if it has to be detectable from a mountain away, then it's going to need to be a bit beefy.
