There's a gorillion brokerage apps out there now. Robinhood is the most popular, I use Schwab. Interactive Brokers is supposed to be the best for buying foreign stocks if you're American, I've been thinking about opening an account there for foreign companies that don't have a secondary listing on the American OTC boards.

If you held the position less than a year, the profit is taxed as regular income. If you held it longer than a year, it's taxed as capital gains.
