I’m just trying to *teach* this annoying blue button feels like it just gets in the way. Gemini was trying to auto-complete all of my code examples. Like a student who calls out the answer so no one gets to think about the question. (and sometimes it’s wrong) Happily in “settings” you can turn all of the AI off. But the blue button— it is still there. This really feels desperate.

@futurebird Just remember, if it were any good, they wouldn't need to try to trick or force you into using it.

@futurebird I uninstalled notepad because they put a Copiot button in it. I've never uninstalled notepad before. Ever.

@futurebird I have been switching away from colab for just that reason, my students get linux mint options and Jupyterlab now with just regular on-computer jupyter as a backup. Would have loved to keep using colab but its so annoying with its AI inserts now 😣

@futurebird doesn't solve the underlying issue, but fwiw it should be straightforward enough to hide this hideous blue invader using the Stylish browser extension https://userstyles.org/

@futurebird In PowerPoint, if you completely disable Copilot, the Copilot button is still there, just disabled. You can remove every other button from the ribbon, but not that one. And, even more annoying, it's replaced the 'reuse slides' button, which would search all of your existing slide decks for slides matching a search term and let you just add them to the current deck. Which was a feature that was actually useful.I hope there is an afterlife so Satya Nadella can just be presented with 'Would you like to go to hell and be tortured for all eternity [ Yes ] [ Maybe Later ]' boxes to click on forever.

@futurebird I really wonder if this is blatant marketing taking over UI/UX to make you miss-click it and claim usage or if there is a secret master plan like having the button "on" allows them to consume all data everywhere.Thinking a sec about it: both options are dumb on so many levels...

@futurebird I use extensions that allow me to write special css and js on the pages that you choose, and just eliminate the object. It works like a charm.

@futurebird If this is in a browser window, maybe uBlock Origin can block it?It's probably in one of the blocklists already provided (but off by default.)
